As in the X-1000 model, the Teac X-2000 uses separate cobalt amorphous heads for recording and playback, as well as the newly developed equalizer amplifier, which improves the accuracy of the tape system, and provides near-flat frequency response up to 40 kHz.
The Dbx noise reduction system consists of electronic circuits compressing the original sound to 1/2 decibel during recording and double stretching during playback to return it to the same shape as the original. This provides a high dynamic range and reduces noise on the tape.
