The rare large 4-track and 4-channel tape recorder Pioneer RT-2044 is a version consisting of RTU-11 tape transport and two TAU-11 recording / playback amplifiers. Behind the TAU-11 glass cover is a 2-step / 4-variable test tone generator, a 5-step equalizer setting that navigates between the NAB and IEC standards and fixed / variable settings; possibly mixing / linear movement, as well as the usual "echo" or "tracking" functions. The MIC attenuator switch is provided with full tape / source control and a repeat / playback / sync selector for each channel.
The solenoid RTU-11 has a head unit easily replaced by a 4-pin JT-2044T head unit and a sporty wired remote controller. The lever below the left drum is designed to "pause". The chassis is made of several large cast structures, bolted together. RT were their own development company Pioneer.
